Redwing Hunting For Worms on Flickr.Turdus iliacus
This bird is part of a flock of around 100 birds that have recently been visiting the farmland in Staffordshire UK where I carry out most of my photography. The flock is a mix of Redwings, Fieldfares, Starlings and Song Thrushes and they arrive en-mass four or five times a day. They happily dig for worms and other food for around half an hour each time they visit and then hastily leave when they start attracting attention from the local Buzzards and other birds of prey. Redwings are migrants that overwinter in the UK and then return to their breeding grounds in Scandinavia for the summer.

About Me

My name is Annerley Johnson and I am a nature and garden photographer based in the midlands of England. I focus mainly on the plants, insects and birds that inhabit Staffordshire and the surrounding counties. My aim is to capture unseen scenes, those natural moments most humans miss.

I am currently constructing a website for my photography but some of my work can be seen on Flickr
